Scottish Instrument of Sasine dated 1613 Scottish History  James VI
Handwritten onto Vellum Instrument of Sasine, dated 5th May 1613, in the Reign of James VI, on behalf of Thomas Hope and John Hope of the Land of Edmonston. Has the Fine Decorative Initials and Notary's mark of Robertus Fortoun.
14 Lines in Latin, plus Notary's docquet.

Sir Thomas Hope, 1st Lord Craighall, was an advocate in 1605 and was appointed Lord Advocate by Charles I of England in 1626, he held the office until 1641. In 1628 he was created the Baronetcy of Nova Scotia.

Sir John Hope, 2nd Lord Craighall was the son of Sir Thomas. He was educated at Law and was admitted as an Advocate. In 1632, John was knighted and appointed an Ordinary Lord of Session.
