Pair of Regency mahogany candle boxes
A pair of early 19th cent mahogany candle boxes. Each box has a very attractive carved upstand at the top and then has a bevelled front panel which slides up and can be removed as necessary. They were probably designed to stand on a sideboard or table but could be easily used as hanging boxes. They are in excellent condition and they both have a very good, original old colour. Sizes: 5 ½ “(14cms) wide, 4 ¼ “(11cms) deep, 15 ¾ “(40 cms) high. Date circa 1820.
