A bronze ecclesiastical figure made in the Limoges area of France - circa 12th-13th century AD. Figures such as these adorned reliquary boxes, crosses etc for decoration and were fully enameled and gilded.
This example has survived extremely well, a rich dark patination remains along with some green and one panel of red enamel. The 2 eyes are enhanced with blue glass.
A rare survivor, a little bend in it but no cracks or repairs.
