Late 19th/early 20th century French gendarmerie cavalry helmet marked as by B. Franck & Ses Files, Aubervilliers and with an issue mark. There is a brass body with applied nickel silver mounts overall. Medusa mask to the comb with a black stiff horsehair comb. There is a lion bossed, scallops chin strap with with a black leather lining to helmet. In generally good, used condition overall with a 1cm stress crack to skull - see photo. Small side plume missing from holder.

Approximately 28cm long, 27cm high (including horsehair) and 22cm wide.
