Large 19th Century Burmese Buddha
fabulous 19th century large standing burmese mandalay buddha.
this wonderful buddha was brought back to the uk by missionaries who worked in burma in the late 1800's and has stayed in their family until recently.
carved from wood, lacquered and finished in gold with coloured glass decorations, this important piece would have once stood at an altar, holding a medicinal myrobalan fruit, it would be revered as a healing and health giving buddha.
some wear and tear commensurate with age but overall this truly impressive buddha is an absolutely magnificent statement piece.
