Gents 1970s Lanco / Tissot automatic wristwatch.
The watch has a 21 jewel automatic movement which is working nicely. The movement is the calibre 2481 from Tissot,
Lanco was one of the brand names used by Langendorf Watch Company of Switzerland. Langendorf was founded in 1873 by Colonel Johann Viktor Kottmann. In 1964, Langendorf was struggling so joined a conglomerate of watch manufacturers called Schweizerischen Gesellschaft für Uhrenindustrie AG (SGU). Unfortunately this did not solve all the difficulties and in 1965, the company was sold to SSIH. After the sale, watches were sold with the Lanco name on the dial but with Omega or Tissot movements, such as the example we have here.
The watch measures 34mm wide excluding the winding crown, and 35mm high excluding the lugs. The case is gold plated and is in good condition with just light surface marking, nothing too serious at all.
The case back states that the watch is water resistant but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original linen effect finish and it is in good condition with original hands, centre seconds hand and date (not quickset).
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
