Gents 1970s hmt Jawan wrist watch.
The watch has a 17-jewel hand-winding movement, HMT 0231, which is working nicely. This calibre of movement was in production from 1961 until 1975.
The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in lovely condition. The screw-on case back has the W10 mark, a Ministry of Defence code for British Army / watches adopted by Ministry of Defence India. It also has the military arrow with the longer shaft, as used by the Indian military after 1948, the NATO code for wrist watch, the model number for hmt Jawan, a code unique to the watch and also a factory code.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is signed hmt (Hindustan Machine Tools) Jowan (which translates as soldier). Overall the dial is in good condition, just a few very small marks. Original hands, seconds sweep and outer minute markers.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
