G Plan Fresco Extending Dining Table and 4 Chairs
A G Plan 'Fresco' circular dining table which extends to oval, and 4 matching chairs.
Dating from the late 1960s, the Fresco range of antique furniture was designed by Victor Wilkins, inspired by Italian and Scandinavian design. Made of solid teak and teak veneer, this table and chairs were purchased together and have been lovingly cared for. They are extremely elegant and attractive with their tapered legs and beautiful grain.
The chairs have padded curved backs which neatly fit the round table, and the round seat pads echo the shape of the table top. The crossed spindles and tapered solid legs are elegant but sturdy. The chairs have their original black vinyl / faux leather upholstery.
The table pulls apart from the centre to reveal a folded additional leaf when lifted, the mechanism easily and smoothly unfolds the leaf and it fits neatly into place it is secured when the 2 sides are pushed back together.
Dimensions:
Table: Diameter (round) 121cm, Length (oval) 168cm, Height 73cm.
Chairs: Seat height 45cm, Overall height 76cm, Width 49cm, Depth 51cm.
The table and chairs are in very good vintage condition. There are very minor marks to the wood (last picture is the most prominent mark on the tabletop), and the additional leaf is a slightly lighter colour (see picture 4). There is slight wear to the cotton fabric on the underside of one of the chairs but this is not visible when the chairs are the right way up.
