Antique Chinese Carved Mythical Pixiu
This is a fabulous large Chinese carved hard stone mythical Pixiu dating from the early 20th Century. The carved hardstone has wonderful shades of jade and amber throughout. It is well carved and is a very tactile piece. The Pixiu in Chinese mythology is a fierce and powerful creature which can consume evil spirits and and malicious ghosts, turning them to gold. It is hoped that by having a Pixiu you will attract and retain wealth. The carving is very heavy and is of some scale measuring 28 cms long 15 cms high by 16 cms deep.
