19th century Indian Steel Dhal shield. Has four central bosses and an additional opening central boss with cruciform spike. Two further bosses have crescent moon decoration. The shield is covered in silver koftgari scroll work. The edge has applied turquoise stones. There are also some turquoise stones under the hinged central boss. The back of the shield has its original knuckle pad and four iron rings for carrying straps which are missing. In generally good condition overall with age wear.

Approximately 35cm in diameter and height of shield to central spike 12cm.
