1930s Helvetia Koh-I-Noor pocket watch and chain
1930s Helvetia Koh-I-Noor pocket watch and chain.
The Helvetia Koh-I-Noor was probably named after one of the most famous diamonds in human history. The Persian word Koh-I-Noor means mountain of light. The diamond’s magnanimous traits and size make it a most desirable precious stone. Kohinoor's ownership has always been a topic of controversy.
This particular watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, a Helvetia 32a, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is chrome plated. The front is in good condition while the back has some surface marking and unevenness.
The watch glass is in good condition.
The dial looks good to the naked eye. If viewed through a jeweller's loupe then faint hairline cracks can be seen. Breguet style blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a vintage double albert with each chain measuring 20cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The links of the chain are steel whilst the fittings have a golden hue.
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
