Reflecting the taste for walnut in the early 18th century, this box mirror is of high quality. The base with 3 drawers has a shaped curving front, designed to catch and reflect the light (the walnut period was all about creating lighter antique furniture for the new fashion of housing with larger windows)
Fine inlays of feather banding on the drawers and top surface creates a delicate decoration that counterpoints the swirls of the walnut veneers.
A fine base moulding incorporates shaped bracket feet.
The tall swing mirror, fixed in position with brass lugs, has a shaped top rail. A beautiful vanity mirror to reflect back the perfection of beauty! Circa 1720
