Description

An Edwardian wooden classroom abacus. This superb floor standing piece has ten rows of ten wooden balls on metal rods all supported by a wooden frame on a stand. The frame has been painted at some-point which we feel is not original however it has a great look to it so we decided to keep it as it is. These would have been used throughout the country to teach not just the basics of maths but complicated mathematics as well. How simple things were before the on set of computers. NB one ball on the lowest row is missing.
