Description

A 19th century Oak architectural bracket timepiece by Vulliamy of London. The architectural Oak case complete with original finish and now mellowed to a wonderful colour. Having a pitched pediment with fielded panels below, and raised on a moulded plinth. The whole front with original glass and silvered sight ring opens to reveal the silvered dial - now time worm and engraved Vulliamy, London. The dial complete with original spade steel hands. Having a substantial fusee 8 day timepiece movement, with corresponding numbered pendulum, this is held in place by 3 large hand screws through the seat board which gives easy access to the movement.

Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy was one of the most influential horologists of his generation, holding a royal warrant and supplying many high-profile public commissions as well as the royal households

Although all Vuillamy clocks of this period were numbered, not all records survived. It is highly likely that this clock was made for a government or public building. The movement and pendulum numbered 1314, English, Circa 1835.
