Description

A superb quality original Regency gilt wood fire screen in wonderful condition and retaining twin silk embroidered panels on a pale yellow ground with cream embroidery set behind the original glass.  The solid timber frame hand carved with acanthus and running sprigs of laurel with beaded borders and acorn finials.  The whole accentuated with gesso and covered in pure gold leaf.  Both panels rotate and can be angled independently.  The upper acorn finials are mirrored with smaller acorns on the thumb turns which adjust each screen, the feet are finely carved with foliate scrolls.

These screens, though still often used near to a fireplace, also offer a wonderful gallery for large format photographs and artworks.  The silk can remain in situ and be fronted with images.

This is a very attractive piece of Georgian furniture and a bespoke original and highly skilled piece of high quality cabinet work.

Dimensions are:

40 inches high (max including acorn finials), 27 inches wide (max at feet), 14 inches deep (max at feet).

For metric please multiply by 2.5

I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
