Description

Offered for sale is a rather dapper figure of the Beatrix Potter character "Mr Tod" who appears along with his arch enemy "Tommy Brock" in "The Tale of Mr Tod"(1918). The tale was influenced by the Uncle Remus stories, and was set in the fields of Potter's Castle Farm. He bears the BP4 backstamp and was produced between 1988 and 1989 only. At this time the Beswick backstamp was replaced by the Royal Doulton backstamp, however, the Beswick connection was sustained by the inclusion of the John Beswick signature on the backstamp.
The tale begins. I have made many books about well-behaved people. Now, for a change, I am going to make a story about two disagreeable people, called Tommy Brock and Mr Tod.
Nobody could call Mr. Tod "nice." The rabbits could not bear him they could smell him half a mile off. He was of a wandering habit and he had foxey whiskers they never knew where he would be next.
