Victorian Mahogany High Back Double Bed
Description
A handsome Victorian mahogany and upholstered double bed dating to circa 1880. With a tall half tester size arched padded and upholstered headboard and two acanthus carved and fluted columns flanking the moulded panelled upholstered footboard, it stands on turned feet raised on later castors for ease of moving. In very good condition and of super quality, the show wood to the head and foot board has been repolished using traditional methods, and both the head and foot boards have been repadded, recovered and trimmed with a rope-twist cord ready for finishing with a final layer of fabric. The side rails are not polished as these would usually not be seen and they have had slats fixed to create a support for the mattress base. There are marks as should be expected commensurate with age and use, an old repair to a finial and a dented area on the top inner edge of the footboard none of which detracts from the overall look.
The price shown is for the bedframe only, we have displayed it with a low spring base and standard double sized mattress. The bedside cabinets are available separately to buy separately and we always have chests and wardrobes available which would compliment this bed.
The sizes at the largest points are approximately:
Width - 54 1/4in (138cm)
Length - 81 1/2in (207cm)
