Description

A rare set of sixteen good Arts & Crafts oak high back dining chairs by Shapland & Petter and dating to circa 1900. Comprising one carver armchair and fifteen side chairs, each with an arched toprail centred by an incised roundel and three vertical splats below, with padded seats and on square tapering legs with block feet to the front.

These chairs are of good quality and in very good condition, professionally reupholstered in a neutral beige/gold chenille type fabric with close studded trim, there are some marks and lightening in colour as should be expected from age and use, and handling has caused some mellowing to the finish on the tops of the back and arms.
