Description

A super set of twelve Gothic Revival Arts & Craft oak dining chairs attributed to Shapland & Petter and dating to circa 1880. Ideal for any a church conversation they feature pointed arches and panelled backs with Gothic arch and trefoil tracery, each has a close nailed upholstered padded brown leather seat on square tapering legs with shaped apron and joined by an H-stretcher. The set includes a matching large carver chair with open scroll arms with Gothic shaped brackets.

The frames all tight and stamped with the number ‘48060’ to the underside. Marks consistent with age and use and losses to corners and edges on the arched tops on the back.
