Recently Stolen from an Antiques Centre in Surrey. If you are offered this piece or know of its whereabouts please contact SW15 Collectables on 07833528669.

A beautiful piece of unusual craftsmanship making a unique piece of jewellery.

A green oval Thewa work, gold and citrine pendant.

The gold mount starts with a good-sized bale, from which is suspended an eight-spoked wheel - Dharma Chakra, (8mm dia). This then suspends a closed-backed, oval citrine (9x6). Below this from a central point, two chains suspend the Thewa work which is claw-set in a serrated surround. The glass of the Thewa-work is a lovely, deep emerald green. The finely detailed design comprises no fewer than five animals and a man along with floral and vine decoration within the 25x22 oval. As is traditional, the Thewa-work is in near-pure gold (23ct). The mount is unmarked, but is high-carat gold. Overall the piece is 78mm long.

Although difficult to date, from the outstanding detail of the work and the setting/cut of the citrine, I would date it to late 19th or early 20th Century.

Thewa-work is an antique craft tradition from Pratapgarh in Rajasthan. (Wikipedia has a good article).

Excellent condition. I will always mention anything that materially affects the aesthetic or function of a piece, but will not attempt to describe what I consider to be normal for age and use. Please use the photographs as well as you can and I’m always happy to answer specific questions.

I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking. I try to find unusual and interesting stock and like to keep turning it over, so I can buy more. Postage and packing are free within the UK - unless explicitly stated otherwise. All fine jewellery will be supplied with a box. If the box/case is described in the text, it will be the one photographed, but may not be if it is not mentioned explicitly. I keep hardly any stock at home, if you want to buy something and need it urgently, I will usually do it the next day, but it may take me some time to respond if you need extra photographs and/or details about the piece that I do not have to hand, as I typically visit the antiques centre just once a week. If you don't see what you're looking for - feel free to send an enquiry via the site. I have only been able to list a portion of my stock.
