Description

A truly spectacular Georgian era, late 18th century Giardinetti ring.

Giardinetti roughly translates to little garden, these wonderfully designed rings often depicted floral displays or flower baskets with naturalistic shapes and themes, like wearing a little garden on the finger.

They have a beautiful mystical feel to them using Rose and flat cut stones, rose cut diamonds fill this ring and the delicate glisten really adds to the magical feel.

Rose cuts were designed to glisten gently by candlelight, the facets reflecting the low warm light beautifully.

This ring is crafted in rich high carat yellow gold with a silver front to set the stones and give them extra sparkle as was often the case at the time.

The old Rose cut diamonds are in a closed back setting of 22ct gold and the reverse of the setting is beautifully engraved.

The band is simple but substantial to hold the heavy ring face which is a navette shape with little floral designs top and bottom surrounding a large collet set, central Rose cut diamond.

It has lovely leaf design engraved shoulders in yellow gold leading onto the smooth band, there are over 1ct of rose cut diamonds within this piece, each hand cut stone slightly different to the other with its own unique charm.

It is Unmarked, tests as 22ct gold and silver, Georgian era late 18th century, c1780s.
