Description

This nice country chest on chest is of small proportions and very much in the antique Victorian style. We believe it to be made mostly of old wood, but to be of more recent construction. It is made from solid stripped pine. The chest consists of an upper section with a top cornice and two small drawers over three longer drawers, and a lower section with three long drawers. The piece is supported on shaped bracket feet. The drawers have brass handles, which do differ slightly (mostly in finish / colour). The chest splits in two for ease of transportation.

There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the chest is overall a little faded. There are some flaws in the woodwork and some paint residue, as is common from country pieces made from old stripped wood. There is some wood shrinkage cracking to the side panels.
