A striking late 19th-century taxidermy display featuring a pair of pheasants, preserved in lifelike detail and housed within a glazed wooden case. One bird, resplendent in chestnut, emerald, and black plumage, stands alert its companion, more softly toned in beige and brown, rests nearby—together forming a naturalistic woodland tableau. The interior is staged with artificial moss, grasses, and branches, evoking a woodland floor, while the painted backdrop—light blue with silhouetted trees—adds depth and atmosphere. The case is fitted with twin metal hanging hooks and retains its original glass panels and frame, showing gentle wear consistent with age.
