A matched pair of African tribal dance face masks, circa 1920

A most interesting and decorative matched pair of African tribal carved wooden face masks which were often used in ceremonial dance. The exaggerated and stylised features were designed to draw the attention of shock together with their primitive carving, good age related patination and colour making these two fine examples ideal as unique wall decoration. Both have wire or leather from which they were previously hung.
