A rare Chinese hardwood and engraved bronze mounted small cabinet with a makers stamp.

This high quality and very decorative small Chinese hardwood cabinet is a fine example. It has an impressed makers stamp on the underside which is very rare and reads (Made by L.S. Hoi, Shanghai, China)
The cabinet is made from dense rich hardwood and consists of four raised feet supporting the rectangular cabinet with a lower open drawer with a raised and fielded front. Above there are two hinged doors again with raised and fielded panels which hinge open to reveal a fitted interior with four drawers each with sunken brass flush fitting handles. The cabinet is mounted throughout with decorative fine brass mounts and handles which have all been hand cut, shaped, engraved and finished with a mid brown patina. This rare cabinet also retains its original small brass engraved Chinese working padlock with its original steel key. This delightful small piece of furniture would have originally been used for jewellery or as an apothecary cabinet. It is in very good original condition with rich colour and patination. Circa 1900
