Description

This fine example of a early 20th century genuine American cast iron money bank was made by Hubley and Co, of Pennsylvania, USA, Circa 1920.
It is modelled on a circus elephant which is mechanical. To operate, the hinged trunk has to be down which spring loads the mechanism and when the tail is lifted a coin which is placed in the slot at the tip of the trunk is swung into the money bank where there is a slot just above the head.
This item is an early genuine piece which retains its original paint and is in full working order with no repairs. These novelty pieces have been replicated over the years, but a genuine one in this condition is hard to find.
