Description

This is a good 19th century hand carved giltwood mirror in the Chinese Chippendale style dating from around 1850. The mirror has a very attractive and detailed crest with pierced acanthus leaf plumes and scrolling pierced acanthus leaf surrounding the sides. This has a nice feature to the base with a small display shelf projection decorated with hanging Chinese leaf carving. The gilding is the original throughout and this has the original silvered mercury plate which has some characterful ageing throughout.
This is a very elegant look and is a great size with much impact measuring 148 cms by 87 cms wide.
