Description

This is a beautiful Indian lidded box dating from around 1880. The octagonal box has a hinged lid and is decoratively constructed using wood, brass, copper and white metal and has calligraphy to the panels. Hand tooled and quite heavy, the box may have been used as a spice or betel box. It actually has a buttoned red velvet interior and also a cushioned red velvet buttoned base.
This would make an attractive keepsake or jewellery box.
The box measures 30 cms by 30 cms and is 17 cms high.
