Description

This is a very attractive Savonorola Damascus hardwood armchair dating from around 1880. The back is carved with lovely blind fret scrolling and geometric detail and is beautifully inlaid with mother of pearl in a central star design. The centre has a Mashrabiya turned feature. This has swept back and curved legs on bracket feet and it is decorated throughout with stunning carving and inlaid mother of pearl detail. The chair is in good sound order with a few minor losses to the inlaid detail and has a good rich colour and patina.
It is a good size standing 102 cms high 50 cms wide by 50 cms deep.
