Description

This is a very attractive Savonorola Damascus hardwood armchair dating from around 1880. The back is carved with lovely blind fret scrolling and geometric detail and is beautifully inlaid with mother of pearl in a central star design. The central splat has intricate Mashrabiya turnings. This has scroll arms and legs on bracket feet and it is decorated throughout with stunning carving and inlaid mother of pearl detail. The chair is in good sound order with a few minor losses to the inlaid detail and has a good rich colour and patina.
It is a good size standing 96 cms high 58 cms wide by 62 cms deep.
