Description

This is a delightful 19th century needlepoint sampler worked by Hannah Stobbs aged 13 in the year 1855.

The sampler has a beautiful bird centrally in tree foliage, the image surrounded by bluebells, with roses at the top and bottom of the sampler. The text from Mathew chapter 5 verse 9 reads “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.”

The sampler has a pretty woven floral border around the work and is framed in its original mahogany frame that measures 64 cms by 43 cms overall.
