Description

This is fine early 19th century sampler by Harriet Humpage in excellent original order dating from around 1830. The sampler has a beautiful central panel with dense needlework of a shepherd and a lady beneath a tree with a flock in the foreground and a house in the background. This is surrounded by various trees and urns of colourful flowers and the lower section having a vibrantly coloured peacock and butterflies. The upper section is embroidered with alphabet and religious verses. The sampler is an excellent example in its burr walnut frame with gold slip.

The frame measures 44.5 cms by 31 cms wide.
