This is an early full tree calf set of two volumes of the History of Rome by Dr Goldsmith. The volumes were printed by L Davis, J Rivington and Sons and T Cadell of London in 1789 and tell the history of Rome 'from the foundation of the city of Rome to the destruction of the Western Empire'.These attractive volumes with raised bands and gilt letting to their spines are in good condition for their many years structurally sound with some minor rubbing/losses to the corners of the boards.
