Description

This is an exceptional 19th century sampler with particularly fine work by Christina Braid aged 10 completed in the year 1810.

The sampler is worked with simplistic figures either side of the tree of life which is entwined with the serpent. There is a house below surrounded by peacocks and other birds, rabbits, dog, hearts, trees, flowers, thistles and other plants. There are various crowns above the families initials throughout all set within a detailed foliage border. The sampler is in very good original condition overall with slight age colouration and a couple of very small holes to the top right hand edge. (See last photo).

The sampler is in its original rosewood frame which measures 63 cms by 50 cms.
