Description

This is a very handsome top quality longcase musical clock which dates from around 1850. The clock has a superb quality 8 bells movements which plays two melodies Westminster and Whittington chimes. The bells play a tune on the quarter, half, quarter to and then, the full air on the hour, folllowed by the hour being struck on a gong. This has an extremely elegant mahogany case in excellent order on a plain base with cross stringing and it’s original ogee bracket feet. The door has an elegant triple arch design flanked either side by reeeded columns capped with superbly detailed gilt bronze Corinthian capitols. The clock is set off by three brass finials to the hood, the central one being in the form of an eagle. The clock measures 240 cms high 52 cms wide and 23 cms deep.
