Description

A very nice named example of a Victorian 1854 pattern infantry officer’s sabre to a Lt. F. Burgess of the 2nd Tower Hamlets Regiment of Militia. The 81.5cm slightly curved, fullered blade is etched with the cipher of Queen Victoria and scrolling foliage. The ricasso is stamped with a proof mark. The brass gothic style hilt also bears the royal cipher and has its original leather liner and fish skin grip. The sabre also has its original silver bullion sword knot. In excellent order save for some minor dents to the brass scabbard, blade very clean with minimal pitting. Sword knot is frayed but overall very good. 1 metre long overall.
