Description

This is a super quality and beautifully hand gilded Japanese Meiji period black lacquered tea ceremony tray dating from around 1870. The tray is in excellent condition and the stunning gilded decoration is of the finest quality with hand gilded low relief chrysanthemum, wisteria, convolvulus and peonies throughout the design. The underside is decorated with the same quality and attention to detail as the top surface and the tray is raised upon shaped bracket feet.
The tray measures 40 cms by 46 cms by 9 cms high.
