Description

This is an outstanding pair of Japanese Ginbari vases on hand carved hardwood stands dating from the Meiji period, circa 1880.
The stunning vases have been expertly crafted by skilled artisans using overlaid glass enamelling with beautiful detailed tooling to the solid brass bodies beneath. The deep rouge red glass enamel has a transluscent effect that allows the craft of the engraved metal to shine and shimmer through. The vases are in delightful crisp and clean condition with no damage or restoration and retain their decorative stands that lift them and give very pleasing overall proportions.
These measure 28 cms overall in height including the stands. The vases alone are 25 cms high by 14 cms in diameter.
