Description

This is an exceptional 19th century pictorial sampler by Jessie Ann Anderson, aged 8 years that was completed in December in the year 1846. The sampler has a most charming large recumbent spotted deer in the top half of the work and a religious verse to the lower section. There are family initials at the top set within pink embroidered shields with dogs and bird detail all surrounded by flowering trees and numerous baskets of flowers all set within a pretty foliate border. The work is a most attractive and unusual sampler in a delightfully chosen colour range. This is in super condition and a nice size, measuring 36 cms by 45 cms including the frame.
