Description

This is a good 18th century Luohan figure in seated pose holding a ruyi sceptre. Qianlong period (1736-95). The deity is carved in wood which has been gessoed then hand painted and laquered with hand applied gilding. The piece is in super condition with much character and a good colour with a lovely warm blood red colour showing through the black gilded lacquer. The figure is substantial in size being 39 cms high and the base is 20 cms wide by 17 cms deep.
