Description

This is a handsome, superb quality mahogany cased timepiece by renowned clock-maker Dent of London, established 1814. Dent are perhaps best known as the makers of the most famous clock in the world the Great Clock of the Houses of Parliament, commonly known as Big Ben. Dent were awarded a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1841 and since then, many more from Royalty around the globe.
In a handsome mahogany case with a caddy top and carrying handle, the clock has a single fusee movement with an anchor escapement. The movement has been fully serviced and keeps excellent time. The front of the case has attractive fish-scale fretwork. The 5.5inch painted dial with Roman numerals is signed E. Dent, The Strand, London. The backplate is numbered 3975. The case is raised on solid brass ball-shaped feet. It measures 38cm high, 22cm wide and 15cm deep.
