Description

An interesting vintage cello case by Paxman Brothers Ltd, Band Instrument Makers, 36 Gerrard St, London W1. The exterior is finished in oilcloth embossed and printed to imitate crocodile skin, whilst the interior is lined and fitted in red velvet. Which cellist ordered this case from Paxman's? Looking well travelled, it is still in lovely clean condition, though missing a handle and a stud on the back, and some of the catches in need of attention. With a mellow colour and cared for surface, it has a real sense of musical history. Circa 1930
