Description

A handsome and superior quality late Victorian mahogany display cabinet in the Sheraton taste, of pleasingly slim proportions making it ideal for use in an alcove. Features include an overhung cornice with chequer banding and a diamond pattern and floral marquetry inlaid frieze, above a single door opening to reveal an arrangement of three shelves with unusual fan shaped brass supports to the fronts. The panels around the lower part have satinwood banding, two also with marquetry inlaid panels, and there is a marquetry inlaid fan to the bottom of the centre panel. The cabinet is raised on elegant square tapering legs with boxwood line inlay and spade feet, and original brass castors.

Condition and Details of Restoration
This cabinet is in original untouched structural condition and completely sound. The polish has been revived, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. There are some minor old marks and fading as would be expected on an example of this age. The faux moiré lining has been replaced, by our own craftsmen.
