Description

Handsome and fine quality late Victorian three-fold screen, each fold having an ornate and finely cast brass gallery, a heavy quality mahogany frame with a blind fret decorated panel to the top and a faux moiré fabric lined inset panel. The front side has ornately carved panels to the base, and plain fielded panels to the rear there is, of course, no reason why the rear should not be used as the front should this be preferable. Each fold is united by ingenious and fine quality bi-directional brass hinges, allowing movement in either direction.
DateLate 19th Century : Circa 1890. DimensionsDimensions (per fold) Width 24" (61cm) Depth 1 ½“ (4cm) Height 71" (180cm) ConditionThis item is in original structural condition, apart from the fabric lining panels which we have had replaced. The polish is original and has been revived by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. The brass work has been cleaned but not lacquered. There are minor old scuffs and marks to the mahogany frame as might be expected on a piece of this age, but nothing untoward the photos are representative. The middle fold has the blind fret panel at the top missing on the rear side only. Codeas161a514 / A9232 Price SOLD £975.00 StatusSold SellerPeter J.
