Description

This Naval military uniform trunk made of black japanned tin and lined with copper.

It was manufactured by Gieves (the leading naval uniformier based of Portsmouth) whose shield adorns the lid (see pictures)

The lid is also monogramed with the name
G.R.Shaw D.S.C. R.N.

George Robert Shaw (1921 - 2009) joined the Royal Navy in 1939.

He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in 1943, whilst serving as Lieutenant aboard HMS Truculent (submarine) for the destruction of U-Boat Northern Waters.

He later went on to become Lieutenant Commander, and retired from the Royal Navy in 1950.
