Description

A stylish mid century triple pendant light, this was designed by Richard Stevens and Peter Rodd in 1958 and won a design council award in 1960. Made by Atlas Lighting, a division of Thorn, they are known as ‘Chelsea’ pendants and the glass is by James Powell & Sons of Whitefriars. In this case, the glass has one amber shade and two in pale blue. The upper part of each pendant is a metal cylinder which has a central lamp holder fitting with three long metal grips which are attached to the shaped glass tubes at their tops and pulled back up into the metal holder, so that a bulb can be fitted from above the glass. This will make a wonderful addition to any home, but particularly one with a mid century interior.

Dating to the 1960s, these are made of glass and metal, and originate from England.

In good age related condition, the glass is not chipped or cracked. The amber and one of the blue shades are slightly thicker glass than the other blue, possibly suggesting it is a replacement. This will need to be checked by a qualified electrician before fitting and use.
