Tromp l'oeil Oil Painting by William J.M. Clayton

Description
Stunning Oil Painting. This Realistic Painting just blows you away with its realistic Imagery. Nottingham, England Artist.William James Morley Clayton (1934 - 2006)
William Clayton was an active artist between 1963 and 1991
Tromp l'oeil is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions
Oil on canvas painted in trompe l'oeil as a niche holding a porcelain figurine of a pirate with pearls and treasure, and with a pocket watch and pistol to the borders, monogrammed and dated 1970 to the lower right corner.
I personally knew Mr Clayton and he would often come into the local Antiques Centre where he would purchase items for his next commission. He was a very friendly person and also had a great passion for our local football club.
The figurine by Capo Di Monte THE PIRATE'S TREASURE CHEST by Tiziano Galli
The pocket watch is English Sterling Silver
The Flint Lock Pistol is a Antique single bore, single shot.
