Description

This is a fine 'bronzed' full length silhouette of a young boy holding a book.

It is stamped on the front lower left 'W Seville Artist' and inscribed on the back 'Manchester. Did 1840'
And also in a different hand 'Edward Whaite'

The silhouette is beautifully painted in ink and watercolour on paper and picked out with fine bronze gilt detailing. It is in very good condition throughout.

The frame is pear wood with an inner brass slip frame. Probably original.
A piece of perspex has been put over the back to protect and show the inscription.

W Seville was a well known silhouette artist working in the North of England notably Manchester, Newcastle and Scotland from about 1820 till 1845. (with his son also)
