A Very Fine Quality Vintage Gilt Bronze and Brass Plaffonier / Electrolier

Super-elegant and very beautiful, this lovely plaffonier dates to around the early to mid 20th century.

Of classical style and taste, the lower 'drum' area, which conceals the bulb holder, is adorned to the exterior with finely cast acanthus style foliage and flower heads, united by crinoline ribbon tie motifs. The four hanging arms are similarly cast as taught pieces of material, 'knotted' to the upper sections and with the unfurling tasseled material leading down to beautifully tied bows and swags. The whole 'sitting' on four small tassel feet, all as pictured.

The concept, the outright quality of the casting and the overall attention to detail is a delight.

The main circular piece of glass is frosted, with a deeply cut 'sunburst' pattern, with a further gilt metal 'stud' to the centre.

This gorgeous vintage light would make a stunning addition to a covered porch, an entrance hall or to the main living space and would be particularly suited to a Georgian - Regency period townhouse, or country property alike.
