An Unusual Cast Iron Fire Back.

This is a large and highly architectural example, featuring a fabulous pointed shape, very much in the gothic taste.

Relief moulded with a design of a tree - perhaps a pine tree - with spiny branches and cones or clusters of flowers.

Further embellished in the form of stars and signed with an archaic 'SS' in relief.

The surface has recently been thoroughly wire-brushed of all loose rust and patinated with the correct blacking wax.

Exact age is unknown, but as a salvaged item we know that it's not 'new' and does have some age.

This is a large and imposing item - a superb piece of architectural salvage with a strong decorative appeal.

Please note, this item has a significant crack and therefore is essentially being sold for decorative purposes, although putting back into service, as originally intended, is not insurmountable. Call or email for more details.
